The villages of Unterwasser, Alt St. Johann and Wildhaus together form the snow paradise and skiing area of Toggenburg (top altitude of 2262 m). The resort area is around one hour from the airport and is the largest winter sports region in Eastern Switzerland. It also happens to be the home base of Simon Ammann, Olympic Gold medal winner (and former world champion) in ski jumping.
