Cascina con Marly-Gomont

This holiday house ticks all the boxes for me. It is beautifully located in the slope of a valley. Together with a small dwelling of the owner it is surrounded by a well maintained en very spacious garden. The house itself is very refined renovation of an old barn and has a lot of charm. Besides all this beauty, the site and the house are very well equipped. There are two terraces and a bbq-corner in the garden. At the entrance, you're supposed to store your (walking) shoes, so an extra pair of indoor shoes come in handy. The ground floor is organized around a central and open staircase. The open kitchen has enough working space and overlooks the dining table. The fireplace has comfortable couches and an ottoman. The whole is tastefully furnished. Upstairs, the landing is nicely lit from above. There are two tidy bathrooms. However the design of these seems a bit outdated, everything is well maintained. The sleeping rooms are cosily arranged, but the screens could have been a bit heavier for darkening, in my personal experience. All in all, this really is an outstanding holiday home in the western region of the Ardennes. I'm very happy that I could stay here with seven other friends, we had a wonderful time. I'm very grateful to the owner with whom I had a very good and pleasant contact. I hope we can come here again!

Zeer goed uitgerust vakantiehuisje. Alles aanwezig in de keuken (afwasmiddel, vaatwastabletten, handdoek, mixer, ...). Top tuin met dubbele schommel, glijbaan, 2 grote trampolines (wel gedeeld met de andere vakantiehuisjes), BBQ (niet erg propere roosters, Staalborstels lagen er wel bij), terrasmeubilair en parasol. Wij zaten er alleen, dus konden genieten van de rust. Negatieve punten: slaapkamer indeling (stond in de beschrijving, wisten we op voorhand), je komt boven in de 1e kamer, dan deur naar gang waar 1-persoonsbed staat, en vervolgens kom je in de 2e grote slaapkamer. Voor die kamer te bereiken moet je dus langs de 2 andere kamers passeren. Het was er tevens zeer warm (onder het dak), ramen (met verduisterde gordijnen ) openen zorgde dan weer voor muggen. Wij vonden de bedden ook zeer hard en kraken bij de minste beweging. Conclusie: top huisje, maar goed slapen was moeilijk.

Locatie is top, doodlopende straat. Tuin, geweldig met veel zitjes en een speeltoestel voor de kids. Een hekje in de tuin leid je naar een mooi natuurgebied. Binnen is het compleet, bedden liggen goed, voldoende ruimte in alle kamers. En ik gok in de zomer heerlijk koel. Keuken was mijn favoriet, een echte leefkeuken, alles aanwezig. Ik miste alleen een knoflookpers, maar dat is persoonlijk. Op loopafstand van Bruly-de-Pesche 1940 bunker. Aanrader!! Twee tips voor de geweldige host: De informatiemap is heel fijn, maar verouderd. En ik denk het meest belangrijke iets doen met de eerste trap, plaatsen van een tweede leuning rechts en een traphekje voor de veiligheid. Maar al met al een fijne plek om heerlijk tot rust te komen. Een absolute aanrader!!!
